Biografie
Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy war ein deutscher Komponist der Romantik. Er gilt unter anderem als entscheidender Wiederentdecker der Werke Johann Sebastian Bachs. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy entstammte der angesehenen und wohlhabenden bürgerlichen jüdischen Familie Mendelssohn. Väterlicherseits war er ein Enkel des bedeutenden Philosophen Moses Mendelssohn. Sein Vater Abraham trat nach einer Bankkaufmannslehre 1804 als Kompagnon in die Bank seines älteren Bruders Joseph ein. Seine Mutter Lea, geborene Salomon, kam aus einer Fabrikantenfamilie.
